Rye Savoury Pikelets

ingredients
1/2 cup Kialla Pure Foods Rye Flour
1/2 cup Kialla Pure Foods Unbleached Plain Flour
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon sugar
1 egg lightly beaten
15g butter, melted
1/2 cup grated tasty cheese
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
2 tablespoon Kialla Pure Foods Sunflower Kernels
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
method
Sift flours, nutmeg and sugar into medium bowl, make well in centre. Gradually stir in combined egg and milk, stir until smooth (or blend or process all ingredients until smooth). Stir in butter and cheeses, parsley and kernels. Drop dessertspoons of batter into heated greased heavy-based frying pan. Cook over medium heat until bubbles start to appear, turn pikelets, and cook until golden brown on other side. Makes about 20 Pikelet batter can be prepared 2 hours ahead; keep covered in refrigerator. Cook before serving. Recipe unsuitable to freeze or microwave.
